SENATE INQUIRY ON GOV’T WAR ON DRUGS: Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs Chair Panfilo “Ping” Lacson fields questions to law enforcement, health and justice officials present during the probe on the present administration’s campaign against drugs on Thursday, August 18, 2016. Lacson queried the resource persons on present government protocols regarding drug addicts and other individuals charged under the RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. “Is there a special rehabilitation program for inmates who violate the Dangerous Drugs Act? Are they isolated from inmates, or are they detained together?,” he said. The hearing examined the possible policy reforms to support the ongoing anti-drug campaign, while another hearing headed by Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights Chair Leila de Lima on extrajudicial and summary killings related to the drug campaign will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016.
