SOCIAL BENEFITS FOR INFORMAL WORKERS: The Magna Carta for Workers in the Informal Economy (MCWIE) underwent consultations with concerned government agencies and organizations representing informal workers during a labor committee hearing chaired by Sen. Joel Villanueva.

The bill authored by Senator Sonny Angara’s aims to recognize informal workers such as jeepney drivers, vendors, construction worker and home based workers to be entitled to protection under the law and better accessibility to social benefits such as the SSS and PhilHealth.
