MECHANIZATION OF THE RICE INDUSTRY: Sen. Cynthia Villar poses with the winners/representatives in the Rice Achievers Awardees for 2016—the outstanding provinces; outstanding cities and municipalities; outstanding irrigators associations and outstanding small water impounding system associations or SWISAs. Aside from giving the awards, Villar also underscored the importance of mechanization in attaining competency of the local rice industry in her speech as Guest of Honor in the event. The senator, chair of the Senate Agriculture and Food committee, has been crafting legislations to boost the growth and development of agriculture sector.
