ITALY’S PRESTIGIOUS ORDER OF MERIT: Senator Loren Legarda with Italian Ambassador Massimo Roscigno and French Ambassador Thierry Mathou. Legarda is a Knight of both the Italian and French Republics. The President of the Republic of Italy, through Ambassador Roscigno, bestowed upon Legarda the award of Cavaliere nell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana for her efforts in bringing the Philippines back to the Venice Biennale after 51 years of absence, thereby contributing to the strengthening of the bilateral relations between Italy and the Philippines. In 2016, the President of the French Republic, through Ambassador Mathou, conferred on Legarda the title of Chevalier dans l’Ordre de la Legion d’Honneur for her contribution in strengthening the bilateral ties between Philippines and France through her environmental and cultural advocacies.
