PANDESAL FORUM: Senator Cynthia Villar joined the discussion about cartels and its adverse side effects with officials of the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) at the Pandesal Forum of Kamuning Bakery Cafe, moderated by Wilson Lee Flores. The senator, as chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture & Food, recently reprimanded the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) for the recurrence of cartels (mostly importers) in the garlic industry, which prompted the increase of prices of garlic in the local market.
