MORE BUDGET FOR LIVESTOCK: Sen. Cynthia Villar, sitting as chairman of the Finance subcommittee hearing the proposed P60 billion budget of the Department of Agriculture for 2018, seeks to pour more budget into the livestock, poultry and dairy industry. During the hearing held last Monday, Villar asked DA Sec. Emmanuel Piñol to infuse more budget in this sector, which yielded 33% of the entire agriculture production. The chair of the Committee on Agriculture and Food also said more budgetary support is needed to help farmers affected by the bird flu virus and to improve the country's dairy industry.
