Villar presents measures to increase coconut farmers' income: Sen. Cynthia Villar, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Food, sponsors the committee report on the resolution looking into the programs of the Philippine Coconut Authority to increase the income of 3.5 million coconut farmers. Villar said there is a need to provide for the development of the coconut industry as it has the highest potential for growth through productivity enhancement, diversification, among others. The Nacionalista Party senator also pointed out that coconut farmers belong to the country's poorest, earning an average of only P50 a day.
