Geneva, Switzerland: Senator Loren Legarda heads the Philippine delegation to the 138th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Geneva, Switzerland. At the panel discussion on the underrepresentation of women in politics, Legarda stressed that while women representation in the political sphere is important to pursue gender-responsive legislation, the more important thing is to ensure that women who are in politics are able to craft quality measures that are greatly and urgently needed to protect women and children.
