Committee Hearing: Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, discusses a bill proposing to prohibit the use of a chemical called Bisphenol A (BPA) in baby food packaging and containers. According to the bill, BPA is used to harden plastics, keep food free from bacteria and cans from rusting, but has possible harmful effects on humans including endocrine failure, heart disease, and brain development disabilities, among others.
