Blue Ribbon probe on ad placement controversy: Senator Richard Gordon, chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee scores officials of the Department of Tourism (DOT) for their "failure to exercise due diligence" in scrutinizing the P60-M advertisement deal between the DOT and the state-run People's Television Network Inc. during a hearing on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Gordon said that former DOT Secretary Wanda Teo should have consulted with the DOT's lawyers to ensure that the advertising contract, which led to issuance of checks to a media outfit owned by Teo's brother, would be devoid of any conflict of interest. "The Constitution prohibits conflict of interest, they should strictly avoid conflicts of interest in the conduct of their office," he said. (PRIB Photo by Joseph Vidal/14 August 2018)
