Soon to become Law: Universal Healthcare Coverage for all Filipinos: “The Universal Healthcare Act is anchored on the democratic ideal of self-determination & the right of every individual & community to a flourishing life. ‪Health is not only wealth. It is one of the most basic social responsibilities.‬”

Senator Risa Hontiveros delivered the keynote address during Monday’s Health Leadership Summit 2018 at the Ateneo Professional Schools. Joining her are (L-R) Ateneo School of Law Dean Joey Hofileña, School of Business Dean Rudy Ang, Ayala Corporation Chief Operating Officer Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Vice President for Ateneo Professional Schools Tonette Palma-Angeles, School of Medicine Dean Manuel "Manolet" Dayrit, AC Health Chief Executive Officer Paolo Barrameda, and School of Government Dean Ronald Mendoza.

The UHC Act is expected to be ratified by both chambers of Congress within the week. Once enacted into law, it will automatically enroll all Filipinos to PhilHealth, improve access to primary healthcare, and integrate local health systems in the provincial level.
