Maginoo is the New Macho: Senator Risa Hontiveros and Akbayan Partylist Representative Tom Villarin on Monday joined various transport groups and construction workers nationwide to protect women, the LGBT -and men too- from "outdated" sexist acts, as they called out for the passage of the Safe Spaces Law which was ratified in both houses of Congress. In a press conference held in Manila today, Hontiveros, principal author and sponsor of the measure in the Senate, welcomed the proactive response from Filipino men in pushing for the signing of the Safe Spaces Law. The law aims to effect positive behavioral change to make our public spaces, schools, workplaces, and online community free from all forms of sexual harassment. The Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO), NCR Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) Coalition, and the National Union of Building and Construction Workers are the allies of the Safe Spaces Law.
