Removing the barriers to make agriculture competitive: Citing a world population increase of more than 9 billion in 2050, Senator Cynthia Villar emphasizes the need to increase food production by 70 percent to complement the growing population. She underscores the need to focus on addressing the many challenges that get in the way of food security. Villar, chair of the Senate Agriculture and Food Committee, was the Guest Speaker during the Department of Agriculture 2019 National Food Security Summit held at the Land Bank Branch in Malate, Manila.
