Drilon on OWWA’s assistance to OFWs: Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon urges the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to review and reassess the assistance they provided for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in light of reports that a number of OFWs had camped out in front of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and under the airport's elevated expressway while around 24,000 of them were stranded in quarantine facilities for the past two months due to delays and inefficiencies in the testing and processing of certificates. “Are the OFWs given shelters? Do they have to pay for their swab tests? I know OWWA has P20.4 billion available cash assets. How much has been disbursed to respond to the needs of OFWs in this pandemic?" Drilon asked during Wednesday’s hybrid hearing, June 24, 2020. (Screen grab/ Senate PRIB)
