Go calls for creation of Department of Overseas Filipinos: Sen. Bong Go calls on fellow legislators to consider the creation of the Department of Overseas Filipinos to help overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) abroad. He said the government is currently having a hard time in addressing all the concerns of OFWs because of their sheer number. “We do not have one agency that primarily focuses on OFWs affairs and concerns. In the absence of the Department of Overseas Filipinos, I urge concerned agencies to review their policies to make them more responsive to the needs of our OFWs,” Go said during Wednesday’s hybrid hearing, June 24, 2020, on several proposals to assist OFWs who were displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
