VILLAR JOINS PANAGBENGA FESTIVITIES

Nacionalista Party (NP) President, Senate President Manny Villar attended the colorful Baguio Flower Festival or Panagbenga on Sunday (February 25) and will take it as an opportunity to hobnobbed with the people in the summer capital of the country.

Its always good to mingle with people in festive settings such as Panagbenga because there is always the spirit of fun and the atmosphere is more relaxed. I am looking forward to joining the events in Panagbenga 2007. I thank the local government of Baguio for inviting me over, says Villar.

Villar, who was accompanied by NP members senatorial candidate Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano and CIBAC Partylist Rep. Joel Villanueva, was warmly received by the people who attended the Panagbenga.

Nakakataba ng puso na napakainit ng naging pagtanggap sa akin ng mga tao sa Baguio. The welcome that we received was as warm as the summer heat in the summer capital. I am really overwhelmed by the peoples hospitality, cites Villar.

I was in Baguio just last week, but the occasion was more formal. This time, I had more opportunities to talk to more people and visit more places, adds Villar. He was the keynote speaker and guest-of-honor in the recently held alumni homecoming of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).

Villar watched the colorful Panagbenga parade and other events. He also met with local officials. As in other provinces that he recently visited like Pangasinan and Bulacan, Villar also went around public markets in Baguio.

According to Villar, Through my tour of public markets all over the country, I hope to remind people about the fact that laking-palengke talaga ako (raised in a public market). Not unknown to many, I used to help my mother sell seafood in Divisoria.
