VILLAR VISITS FISHPORT IN NAVOTAS
Where he used to get fish and shrimps for his mothers stall in Divisoria Market

Senate President Manny Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party, continues the rounds of public markets in the country. Today however he went to the so-called pondohan or bagsakan in Navotas where fish vendors, like he used to be, buy the seafood that they will sell in their market stalls.

According to Villar, These past few days have been very memorable to me because I got to visit places that I frequented before. The other day (Monday, Feb. 26) I went to Divisoria Market where my Nanay Curing and I used to sell seafood. I even saw some familiar faces there, a little older like me maybe, but we still recognized each other.

Today (Feb. 27), this fishport in Navotas was where we get all the shrimps and fish that we used to sell in Divisoria. Dito talaga dumadayo ang mga tindero at tindera ng palengke para kumuha ng mga paninda, mas maaga mas marami kang makukuha. Being here really brings back old memories, adds Villar, who is also fondly referred to as Mr. Palengke.

Besides Navotas Fishport, Villar also went around Agora Public Market and the Malabon Central Market. Previously, Villar has visited public markets in Pangasinan and Baguio .

I intend to visit more public markets, not only because I am comfortable being with the people there, but also to remind people about my roots. I was born and raised in Tondo, and I literally spent my childhood days, since I was 11 years old, helping my mother in Divisorialaking palengke talaga ako.
