Villar upbeat on PNPs capability to
maintain peace and order during poll season

Taking up the cudgels for the Philippine National Police (PNP), Senate President and Genuine Opposition guest senatorial bet Manny Villar today expressed full trust and confidence on the PNPs capability to prevent guns and goons from spreading chaos and mayhem during this critical election period.

Senate President Villar said the PNP is composed of highly professionalized personnel, who can live up to the publics expectations and aid the government in ensuring the conduct of peaceful and orderly elections.

Villar nonetheless called on the PNP leadership to consolidate its ranks, maintain a high level of vigilance, and remain apolitical in the performance of its constitutional mandate to ensure public safety and security.

I am confident that with competent and professional officials at the helm of the PNP, our people can sleep tight and look forward to a peaceful and orderly elections come May 14.

The PNP should not lower its guard against individuals who would stop at nothing in the name of self preservation. It is the Polices duty to enforce the law and keep criminals at bay, he said.

He called on the PNP to make public the list of so-called Private Armed Groups (PAGs) in various parts of the country and enlist the help of the public in having them neutralized.

Villar said the PNP can count on the support and cooperation of the citizenry, who have grown sick and tired of violence and dirty politics.

Kailangang paigtingin ng PNP ang kampanya nito laban sa mga private armed groups na maaring gamitin ng mga mapagsamantalang grupo upang busalan ang boses ng masa ngayong halalan, Villar said.
