SEN. PIA ON REP. OCAMPO'S RELEASE:
"STOP PERSECUTING KA SATUR, ACTIVISTS"

Senator Pia S. Cayetano today lauded the Supreme Court's decision granting provisional liberty to Bayan Muna Representative Satur Ocampo, even as she urged the Arroyo government to stop persecuting the militant lawmaker and other activists.

"With the Supreme Court's decision, I hope the authorities will put an end to the persecution of Ka Satur and other activists like him who continue to fight for liberties and social change within the framework of our Constitution," said Cayetano, a lawyer.

As a political newcomer three years ago, Cayetano was among the twelve senatorial candidates endorsed by Bayan Muna which topped the party-list polls in the 2004 national elections.
