WOUNDED ILOILO MILITANT WRITES KIKO FOR INTERVENTION

Wounded secretary general of human rights group Karapatan Panay Chapter Jose Ely Garachico today asked for Senator Kiko's assistance in finding his two militant companions who were abducted during the shooting incident.

In his letter to Senator Kiko, Garachico appealed for intervention in ascertaining the whereabouts of Nilo Arado of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas and Luisa Dominado of Selda. Garachico likewise appealed t o the abductors to return Arado and Dominado to their families. He called on government "to take responsibility for this grave human rights violation" and to the people of Iloilo and Panay Island "to be ever vigilant and contribute in any way possible in efforts to find Nilo Arado and Ma. Luisa Dominado and to prevent such inhumane act from happening again."

Senator Kiko, who paid Garachico a visit in Iloilo last week called on citizens who may know the whereabouts of the missing persons to provide information to the families, the PNP and his office. "Only if we get the perpetrators and punish them will they realize that they cannot get away with these brazen acts of lawlessness," Kiko ended.
