Press Release April 25, 2007 KIKO ENDORSED BY FIVE PARTY-LIST GROUPS Senate Majority Leader and independent re-electionist candidate Kiko Pangilinan was endorsed today by five party-list groups, along with seven other candidates from the Genuine Opposition and Team Unity, in Sulo Hotel, Quezon City. "We are grateful for the endorsement of these party-list groups who have been long aligned with our human rights advocacy," said Kiko, who was also the former chairman of the Committee on Justice and Human Rights. The party-list groups which endorsed Kiko were Anak Pawis, Bayan Muna, Gabriela, Kabataan and Suara Bangsamoro. These party-lists also endorsed Kiko's senatorial bid in 2001. "I have always believed that the party-list system has helped democratize political participation in government and we support their continuous struggle for that representation," Kiko said, amid reports of black propaganda against many party-list groups. Senator Kiko's office has been engaged with the five party-list groups on talks about political cooperation, poll watching and sample ballot production. Kiko supported Bayan Muna in 2001." |
