Jinggoy: No need yet to invite Enrique Razon to Senate probe

Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada yesterday said there is no need yet to invite businessman Enrique Razon to the Senate investigation on the national broadband network contract of the Chinese firm ZTE Corp.

Estrada said that there is no direct evidence that Razon is privy to the ZTE deal as shown in the initial Senate investigation.

Razon, chairman and chief executive officer of the ICTSI, was allegedly implicated as one of those who are lobbying for the approval of the ZTE broadband contract.

"The Senate should be responsible enough, to call resource persons who have direct knowledge of the issues being investigated," Estrada said.

He said that for the moment the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee should focus on Commission on Elections Chairman Benjamin Abalos, Atty. Mike Arroyo, former NEDA chief Romulo Neri, and businessman Jose de Venecia III
