Villar recommends ocular inspection at NAIA

Senate President Manny Villar recommended to the committees conducting the Senate investigation on the national broadband deal an ocular inspection of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to have a clearer view of what transpired at the airport upon the arrival of Senate witness Rodolfo Noel Lozada Jr.

"I would like to recommend to the committees an ocular inspection of the airport to enable us to follow exactly what transpired from the airplane to the car," the Senate President said.

"This is to enlighten the members of the committees on this issue," Villar emphasized.

Tracing and re-enacting the series of incidents at the airport where our witness was taken away are crucial, he said.

The Nacionalista Party president also asked Philippine National Police chief Avelino Razon which is more important to him: "Housing for the police or the national broadband network project?" It was earlier brought up that the NBN deal was prioritized over the said housing project.

Razon replied, "Para po sa Philippine National Police, ang pinaka-priority project naming ay ang housing program..."

Villar said he wanted to know Razon's answer as the Senate President read a recent study which showed that 63 percent of the PNP personnel are currently "in dire need of shelter."

The same study also said that 80 percent or 1,280 of the 1,600 police stations all over the country are considered "illegal settlers."
