Statement of Sen. Nene Pimentel on Ombudsman Gutierrez's order to form a team to investigate anomalous NBN-ZTE contract

That will be one of the best moves Merceditas Gutierrez shall have done as Ombudsman.

She should do the investigation without hesitation.

The ZTE anomaly falls squarely within the mandate of the Ombudsman.

If she does not do anything about it despite the overwhelming evidence showing the corruption permeating the whole contract, it would mean that the people can no longer rely upon their Ombudsman to protect their interest.

I support her published statements that her office would investigate the contract. It would be better if she would take into consideration the findings that the Blue Ribbon Committee would come up with to buttress her own investigation.
