Zubiri supports Enrile motion to grill Foreign Chambers of Commerce & Industry
Decries gall, kapal ng mukha

Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri supports the motion of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile to ask the Foreign Chambers of Commerce and Industry to answer allegations of foreign intervention in a hearing to be conducted by the Joint Congressional Power Commission.

The Foreign Chambers had written the President to dissuade Congress to amend the EPIRA.

Zubiri said, the "EPIRA should be amended to address its failure to lower power rates. I voted against the EPIRA in 2000 for allowing cross-ownership of generation and distribution companies which victimize us now with high prices."

"It is now only the Transco that serves to protect the people and now it is also going into foreign hands."

Zubiri decried "the gall and thickness of skin, or "kapal ng mukha" of the foreign chambers to dictate upon Congress on our legislative prerogatives."
