GORDON: MORE RELIEF SUPPLIES AND WATER SANITATION SYSTEM FOR ROMBLON AND AKLAN

Philippine National Red Cross Chairman and Senator Richard J. Gordon, determined in leading the PNRC organization in sending immediate goods and services, mobilizing its staff and volunteers particularly the 143 volunteers to conduct emergency assessments in every places where the typhoon has left a terrible mark, went to San Fernando Romblon and Aklan yesterday, Thursday, July 3, 2008 to distribute relief supplies as well as sanitation kits to the families distressed by Typhoon Frank.

Gordon also ensured that a mobile water purifying system with two bladder tanks, which were deployed to Iloilo and Aklan to set up a clean water source, are fully operational hence providing uncontaminated potable drinking water for the affected people.

Gordon and the PNRC team handed out 5,700 bags of relief goods to the affected families in San Fernando Romblon as well as Aklan. Each bag contains two days supply of food for each family.

Gordon also identified 3 remote barangays in Aklan, namely Dalasaang, Maki and Uyang. He already made arrangements to get choppers that would bring relief supplies to the families of the said barangays.

"This calamity has greatly affected their lives. A lot of them have lost their means of livelihood. We must ensure that they are given the proper assistance and support to rise up from this tragedy." said Gordon
