Villar leads relief efforts in Iloilo

Senate President Manny Villar personally led the distribution of relief goods in typhoon-ravaged Iloilo and checked on the conditions of his kasimanwas anew.

Since the inundation of Iloilo, Villar, who hails from the place, has directed a series of relief operations for the victims of typhoon Frank.

As Senate president, he also initiated "Tulong Kapwa" which gathered donations from employees and staff of the Senate, including help from other donors. Earlier, Villar gave one year of his salary as a legislator for the relief efforts, aside from many other forms of assistance.

Today, the Nacionalista Party president himself distributed relief goods, particularly at the Sta. Barbara gym, the Pavia Municipal Hall, the Janiuay Municipal Hall, and at the Dumangas Municipal Hall.

Villar said, "We continue to appeal to our sympathetic citizens to give their share of help at this time of need to enable our people to recover from the effects of the typhoon. This must be a time of collective action and help as a country uniting for the upliftment of its battered people."

The provinces of Iloilo, Aklan, Capiz and Antique as well as Iloilo City were placed under a state of calamity in the wake of severe inundations.
