KIKO LAUDS DENIAL OF GOVERNMENT'S APPEAL FOR ORAL ARGUMENTS POSTPONEMENT

Senate Majority Leader and Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan today lauded the Supreme Court's decision to deny government's appeal to postpone the oral argument on the controversial GRP-MILF MOA.

"We welcome the High Court's decision, and we are happy that the SC sees it is better to put an end on this issue the soonest time possible. The longer we resolve this case, the more tension and uncertainty it will bring which will do no one any good," Kiko said.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear today the peacepact creating the Bangsamoro Juridical Entity. Some provisions of the said agreemtn are said to be unconstitutional and many are against the exclusive process undertaken in drafting the MOA.

"The government should turn around and renegotiate the agreement. It needs to re-enter negotiations with the MILF and scrap provisions in the MOA that go against the Constitution. As the highest office in the land, the president's foremost thrust should be uniting the people, and this controversial pact has already brought too much division, and it will continue to do so if government will insist on this highly questionable MOA," Kiko ended
