Villar urges relentless pursuit of Davao bombing perpetrators

Senate President Manny Villar today urged police authorities to be persistent in hunting down the perpetrators of another deadly bombing of a bus in Davao even as he denounced the bombing as an act of terror.

"Authorities should leave no stone unturned in their investigation of this bombing incident. If this is the handiwork of an extortion group linked to the terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group, the police should exert every effort to bring them to justice," Villar said.

The Nacionalista Party president said the police should relentlessly pursue members of the al-Khobar criminal gang believed to be responsible in Monday's bombing incident in Davao that left at least 6 people dead and 30 others wounded.

"This criminal act should not go unpunished. At the same time, transport firms and business establishments should tighten security procedures and maintain constant vigilance to deter further attacks," he added.

Villar lamented that the bombing exacerbated the already tense situation in the South as the Armed Forces conduct operations against forces of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

"Law enforcers should prevent similar attacks from happening in the future as innocent civilians are the most likely suspects of these violent acts," he added.
