KIKO: SUPPORT SMALL OIL COMPANIES

Following today's P1 rollback of the big oil companies in the country, Senate Majority Leader and Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan called on the public to support small oil companies to pressure big firms to be sensitive of the public's plight.

"If these big oil companies will continue to be inconsiderate to the plight of our consumers then it's about time we call their attention and let them know that the people will not just take things sitting down. It's time for the people to strike back, to act and not simply watch and allow these huge companies to bully the consumer in their efforts to ensure huge profits," Kiko said.

"Instead of patronizing the big players, we call on our public to support smaller players who have yielded more easily to the call of oil consumers. It might be a little inconvenient for us consumers to look for the gas stations of the outnumbered small players but it is a small sacrifice compared to the burden that these big oil firms are making us carry," Kiko added.

"While we are not in favor of the complete scrapping of VAT on oil products, we strongly support the reduction of the 12% tax to perhaps between 8 or 10 percent on all products and services. We need to explore all means possible of cushioning the impact of the soaring prices for our people," Kiko ended.
