Kiko reiterates call for Senate ceasefire; getting down to business

Senate Majority Leader and independent senator Kiko Pangilinan today repeated his appeal for a Senate ceasefire on the C-5 double entry controversy. The said issue stemmed from the expose by Senator Panfilo Lacson last Monday.

"There are only three weeks left before the Senate goes on break. As lawmakers, we should be most concerned with passing new laws that would benefit the people. Hindi tayo uusad sa Senado kung wala tayong korum. Ang talunan dito ay ang taumbayan. Above everything else, we answer to the Filipino people. Let's buckle down to work," emphasized Kiko.

The Senate was unusually peaceful yesterday after two consecutive days of heated debates over the C-5 double entry expose by Senator Panfilo Lacson last Monday. Aside from Lacson, Senators Jamby Madrigal, Loren Legarda, Manuel Roxas, Rodolfo Biazon and Benigno Aquino III and Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel, Jr. were also notably absent.

"The best thing to do now is to launch an impartial investigation to lay this issue to rest. Anyway, all parties agree that the public needs to be assured that there was nothing questionable about the fund allocation. Ipagpatuloy na natin an ating trabaho sa Senado," ended Kiko.
