KIKO SCORES DE LA PAZ FOR LYING
"Dati contingency, ngayon intelligence fund. Ano ba talaga?"

Senate Majority Leader and Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan today scored Philippine National Police comptroller Eliseo de la Paz for his inconsistent explanation on the so-called Euro-generals controversy.

"Dati contingency, ngayon intelligence fund. Ano ba talaga? Yan ang hirap sa nagsisinungaling, nagkakabalu-baluktot ang dila sa kakadahilan!" Kiko said.

Kiko earlier called for the immediate preventive suspension of all PNP officials connected to the issue. De la Paz stirred a controversy after getting in trouble at the Moscow International Airport in Oct. 11 for traveling with a total of P9.2 million in his possession. He initially told the media that the P6.3 cash advance he made was for the trip's contingency fund, but is now claiming it was sourced from intelligence funds.

"Mahirap paniwalaan ang pabago-bago ng istorya. Baka bukas iba naman ang source at iba na naman ulit sa Lunes," Kiko lamented.

Despite the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs' subpoena for de la Paz and his wife--who also went on the trip, to testify before the Upper Chamber, the two failed to show up at the Senate investigation last Thursday.

"All the unlawful acts committed in this Euro trip, his failure to attend the Senate investigation and now these muddled statements, they all point to one thing: de la Paz thinks he can get away with everything. Akala yata mabobola nya tayong lahat! The PNP needs to show the public that it can live up to its motto to serve and protect the people--in this instance, sadly, against one of their own," Kiko ended.
