Statement of Senator Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr. on Binay's presidential bid

Makati Mayor's declaration of his intention to run for president is not unusual. Manny Villar is running as an NP. Mar Roxas is an LP. Why can't Binay's party, PDP-Laban or United Opposition, endorse him?

In the meantime, there should be efforts to unify. There is enough time for that. We will support him to the extent that he is a member of the party. But whether or not he will wind up the presidential candidate of the opposition remains to be seen.

Of all presidential aspirants, he is the only one who is anchored on local government. And if he can exploit that, he will enjoy tremendous advantage. Sabi nga ng dating Speaker O'Neill of the US House of Representatives, all politics is local.
