Gordon to speak before PMAP Assembly

Independent Senator Richard J. Gordon will keynote the People Management Association of the Philippines' (PMAP) 542nd General Membership Meeting (GMM) tomorrow.

Gordon will deliver his presentation "Creating the Future of the Philippines (Harnessing the Filipino Spirit)" during the assembly which will also coincide with the induction of the group's new set of officers for 2009.

"Being human resource management practitioners, you have a major role to play in creating an improved labor force, one whose abilities are developed to the maximum, which contributes greatly to the building of a better future for our country," he said.

As chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Gordon had showed the nation an example of how to positively tap the Filipino spirit and supervise it effectively to bring out the best in the people.

During his stint as SBMA chairman, Gordon led tens of thousands of Filipino volunteers in Olongapo and Subic in rising above the challenges that they were dealing with, such as the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo at a time when the province is still trying to deal with the effects of the removal of the US military bases, which have so long provided economic aid to the province.

The PMAP, which took the theme "Ikarangal ang Diwang Pilipino: Malasakit, Bayanihan at Pananagutan" for the year will hold its membership assembly on Jan. 28 at the Grand Ballroom of the Intercontinental Hotel in Makati City .

PMAP is a 52-year old professional organization of human resource management practitioners with 19 chapters and 1,200 member companies nationwide.
