SENATE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SERVICES CHAIRMAN REVILLA'S REACTION ON THE CAPSIZING OF M/B COMMANDO 6

It is very absurd that an overloaded passenger boat left the pier passing the supposed strict inspection of MARINA . We could have not learned that it was overcrowded not until the tragedy happened, killing 12 people, including three children and a foreigner.

It is not enough that they have suspended the operator of the motorized banca. Apparently, there is liability on the part of MARINA and PCG. How can they determine if a boat is overloaded or not if they only rely on the submitted manifesto?

Aside from overloading, there are reports that trip cutting also proliferates in sea travel. The MARINA and the PCG should find ways to address these twin illegal activities.

Considering that a foreigner is among those who were killed, this might greatly affect our tourism industry. Our country's image suffered another black-eye because of this incident.
