Pia condemns mafia-style murder of Ruby Rose

Senator Pia S. Cayetano today expressed outrage over the mafia-style murder of Ruby Rose Jimenez, whose remains were found encased and cemented inside a metal drum and box after being fished by investigators from the Navotas fishport waters last week.

"Whoever did this deserves to be punished to the full extent of the law," said Cayetano, Chairperson of the Senate Social Justice Committee.

"I condemn this shameless and dastardly act. I urge the authorities to look into the angle of domestic violence because right now, the witness has only so far tagged the victim's father-in-law," she added.

"This is a domestic violence issue. Roby Rose's sister claims the husband is behind all this, and that the victim was last seen going to their conjugal home. This case is a gruesome reminder of how domestic violence in various forms and degrees continue to victimize women."
