KIKO PANGILINAN CONDEMNS THE INACTION OF ADMINISTRATION IN BOOSTING LOCAL AGRI PRODUCTION

Independent senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan blasts Malacañang's inaction to help alleviate hunger in the Philippines, and asks the president to boost local agriculture.

"We should address the decreasing national rice hectarage. We are losing lands to commercialism," Pangilinan says. "The yield level of high-yielding rice varieties has not increased. We should look into these matters to ensure our countrymen are shielded from hunger and poverty."

Pangilinan was reacting to the UN report that world hunger has now reached 1 billion.
