To equate to the quality of education worldwide
ANGARA SETS TO ADOPT EMERGING EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES
FOR THE COUNTRY

Consistent in his motion for quality education for the Filipinos, Sen. Edgardo J. Angara today impels the effective adoption of emerging educational technologies to revolutionize Philippine's education similar to those of other countries.

"Providing educational development and learning opportunities for every Filipino increase the probability of expanding and improving the quality of our workforce. It is thus imperative to give them access to advanced technologies and appropriate educational materials to show our motion for an education equal to that of the world," said Angara who is a former University of the Philippines President.

SB 215 also known as the Charter of the Center for Leading-Edge Educational Technologies was an act authored by Angara to rationalize and integrate a comprehensive approach in bringing together the academic , technological and economic services that will initiate, promote, sponsor, assist, pursue, support and conduct programs, projects and studies devised for training, research, development with guaranteed affordable technologies.

He added, "With the country lagging behind in competitiveness index, adapting education reform best practices is a step in the right direction towards re-gaining our advantage."

Among the Center's goal are the following:

a. To design and develop training programs using leading-edge educational technologies for knowledge transfer and skills training

b. To develop training programs using appropriate strategies and media to identified target audiences

c. To prepare and implement an accreditation and equivalency program using leading-edge educational technologies for students from the informal and non-formal sectors to enter the mainstream of formal education or the world of work in business and industry

d. To initiate and conduct seminars, publications, reports, workshops, educational campaigns, conferences, conventions, fora and symposia on matters, subjects and topics pertaining to or involving leading-edge educational technologies significant to practitioners, teachers, students, and private and public entities

"The CLEET will train educators, trainors and practitioners from across the nation to influence the directions of educational technology. The goal is to assemble a high- technology facility for accessing leading-edge hardware, software and materials and a core of leadership to determine these priorities and to bring technology to bear on them as appropriate," he added.
