STATEMENT OF SENATOR AQUILINO Q. PIMENTEL, JR.

1. On the spread of H1N1 infection

Filipinos here in Geneva and Berne are amazed that our own officials appear to want to scare other peoples from coming to the Philippines because of A1H1 flu.

Here in Geneva, nobody swabs your mouth or checks you for fever at the airport.

The authorities here simply attend to those who might be sick and they don't go into scare tactics that might cause panic among the people.

2. On the Philippines being ranked number 5 in shabu trafficking in the 2009 World Drug Report of the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime

Drug dealing is one serious problem that our government has to attend to. We do not need new laws. We need the proper implementation of the law.

Without implementing the existing antinarcotics law, we jeopardize our youth, we abet criminality. Nobody should be spared regardless of their public positions.
