SENATE COMMENDATION FOR YOUNG COMPUTER WIZARDS

The Senate is set to commend two young computer wizards for bringing honor to the Philippines at an international computer competition.

Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) filed Senate Resolution 1320 seeking to commend Anthony Sy and Reynaldo Luz of Fountain International School in Santolan, San Juan City for winning bronze medals and certificate of recognition during the International Computer Project Olympiad.

The Computer Olympiad, held in Ankara, Turkey on May 9-ll this year, was organized by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Atlantik Educational Institutions.

In the pre-selection phase of the contest, 21 finalists qualified for the final exhibit and competition.

The team from the Fountain International School, which represented the Philippines, qualified for the finals with its entry for the "Web Site of Educator" category entitled "One Manila, One Dream."

The Philippine entry was created and presented by 4th year student Anthony Sy and 1st year student Reynaldo Luz under the guidance of their mentor Onur Kilicaslan. The entry won the third place in the contest for which Sy and Luz were awarded bronze medals and certificates of recognition.

"These young achievers and their school deserves acclamation for bringing honor to our country through their determination and proficiency," Pimentel said.
