9th "ART FOR CHANGE" CONTEST

Art For Change, which was conceptualized by Senator Pimentel, seeks to promote and encourage young and unknown artists, by holding an annual art contest. Robinsons Malls have been the location sponsor of the event since its inception in 2001. Said contest is open to all children aged seven (7) to 12.

"It is my duty as a legislator to follow the oath that I have taken to serve the people, especially the young, clearly and consistently," the Senator notes. "I believe many of our students and the young out there will be inspired by seeing the works of these children. I hope that this will educate the future generation of artists," he adds.

Through the on-the-spot painting contest, participants can translate on their illustration boards with the use of oil pastels their sentiments and interpretation of the current political and economic issues and other concerns affecting the quality of life of the Filipino youth.

The contest, as usual, is expected to attract as many as 200 young participants from Manila and all over Metro Manila area.

Sen. Pimentel is inviting parents and their artistically-inclined children to sign up for the Art For Change competition which is now on its ninth year. "We have had tremendous response in the past eight years with many talented youths coming to join this art event," Pimentel said.
