Transcript ambush interview of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile (Part 2)

Q: Sumama daw ang loob nyo at muntik na daw kayo mag-resign, dahil 'yung mga kasama nyo sa majority block didn't even have the courtesy...

SP: My God, bakit naman sasama ang loob ko? Sinabi ko dito nung inumpisahan naming 'yung hearing na each one is free to make a judgment and that this is a vote of conscience. Bakit sasama ang loob ko dyan?

Q: Sir, hindi nyo po ba naisip na 'yung mga pumirma ay parang vote na hindi na sila confident sa Senate leadership nyo?

SP: Iba 'yung confidence sa leadership e. Iba naman 'yung sa individual position dun sa kaso 'cause I also told them before, kung ano ang appreciation n'yo of the evidence, bahala kayo. I'm only a presiding officer of the Committee of the Whole. I cannot impose my will on them. I have no reason to condemn anybody. I will deal with the evidence as presented by the parties. There's no partiality or bias in favor of one or the other. It's only the evidence that matters. Ngayon, hindi ko pa nagagawa 'yung report ng committee, so, I will deal with that.

Q: Sir, do you think na-preempt yung...

SP: No. No. No. Well, as far as they're concerned, they want to preempt it but...

Q: Sir, sabi ni Senator Lacson, parang nag-express kayo ng sentiment na mag-resign na lang?

SP: Well, I said, that I can accept the fact that they can dissent but they should have waited for the committee report.

Q: Sir, in a way, parang medyo sa ganung aspeto sumama po ang loob n'yo nang konti?

SP: Alam nyo, hindi ako... I'm too old to... magtatampo sa ganyan e. I have so many problems in the court room more than what you are seeing now. So I know how to handle the problem.

Q: Sir, is it true na 'yung first instinct n'yo mag-resign na lang considering 12 yung pumirma sa committee report?

SP: Well, it was like a discharge of the committee but I want to find out from them if they're discharging the committee.

Q: Pero kumpiyansa pa rin kayo, sir, sa support ng majority of the senators? You're still confident with the majority of the senators?

SP: Well, if you will express that this is an expression of no confidence, then, of course. I will abide by the consent given by the new president.

Q Sa ngayon sir, anong feeling nyo po?

SP Wala naman. Wala naman. Some of them were thinking that we were deceived. We never expected that they will file, that this was only an indication of our position. If there is a committee report, wala pa naman e.

Q: Sir, totoo po bang in-offeran daw kayo ng campaign funds ni Villar?

SP: Sino nagsabi?

Q: Si Senator Lacson po.

SP: Not me. I don't accept campaign funds from just anybody. I'm not that rich but I think I can take care of myself.

Q: Sir, how will this affect the Committee of the Whole proceedings?

SP: The Committee of the Whole proceeding will continue. I will prepare the committee report.

Q: When, sir?

SP: I am having it drafted now.

Q: But you're no longer calling another hearing?

SP: No more. Tapos na ang hearing e. May offer of evidence na e.

Q: Hindi nyo ba nakikita na parang gusot ito or gulo ito sa Senate right now, sa leadership n'yo?

SP: No. No way.
