KIKO TO COMELEC-DISQUALIFY CANDIDATES LINKED TO MASSACRE

Senator Francis 'Kiko' Pangilinan condemns what is being regarded as the most gruesome election-related violence in Mindanao.

'Government must throw the book at the perpetrators of this massacre. The COMELEC should likewise weigh in heavily on the incident because if the massacre was indeed election related, coming as it did when the victims were on their way to the filing of the certificate of candidacy of their candidate, then the COMELEC has jurisdiction over the incident.'

Several bodies were reportedly being dug up, including those of several media practitioners displaying the boldness of the perpetrators.

'If it can be established that the incident had the go signal of politicos, the COMELEC should institute disqualification cases against them. The COMELEC must set an example for all others who may resort to election violence in the campaign.'

'Disqualifying politicians linked to election violence early on will send a strong signal to all candidates that the COMELEC means business. This will serve as a deterrent, and will in fact curb election violence and prevent the unnecessary loss of lives.'
