Villar gets twin blessings

Nacionalista Party (NP) standard-bearer Manny Villar received Sunday special blessings from two influential religious groups, the Kingdom of Jesus Christ and the United Pentecostal Church (UPC) in Cebu and Davao.

International and local leaders of UPC prayed over and "anointed" Villar on Sunday afternoon during the group's annual general conference at the University of Mindanao-Matina campus in Davao City.

"I feel privileged to have been invited by the leaders of United Pentecostal in this important event of the group. Their prayers mean a lot to me," said Villar.

UPC Philippines invited Villar and his vice-presidential candidate Loren Legarda to grace its event. They were given a chance to address over 50,000 UPC members and congregation gathered there. Martin Querubin, who is representing his father senatorial bet detained Col. Ariel Querubin, was with Villar at the UPC event.

On Sunday evening, Villar and Legarda together with NP senatorial bet Bongbong Marcos attended the gathering of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ led by religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy at the Cebu International Convention Center.

"Pastor Quiboloy is most sought after for his advice and prayers. It is always a privilege to attend his gatherings. His prayers really reflect our aim for peaceful and honest elections. I agree with him, whoever will be elected needs the whole country's support," said Villar.
