COALITION OF SUPPORTERS NOW BEING FINE-TUNED
AQUINO SEES LP CAMPAIGN MOVING TO HIGH GEAR SOON

LAPU-LAPU City, Cebu - With a big number of groups supporting his presidential bid getting its act together, Liberal Party standard bearer Noynoy Aquino on Saturday expressed confidence his campaign will soon move to high gear.

Belying claims his campaign is being mismanaged, the 50-year old senator from Tarlac said he was fine-tuning the coalition of volunteers and parties backing his candidacy and expects "better results in the coming days."

"We have so many groups joining and aligning with us, we have non-political groups, lawyers, etc., and we were the last to declare. So it really will take a little time to make everyone coalesce with each other," he said in a press conference at Mactan International Airport.

"We are headed in the right direction. We are fine-tuning the campaign, you will see better results in the coming days," said Aquino who had flown in from a sortie in General Santos where he was endorsed by the Achievers with Integrity Movement (AIM) led by former Congressman Adel Antonino and incumbent Mayor Jun Acharon .

Aquino said he and running mate Sen. Manuel "Mar" Roxas II have so far received enthusiastic welcomes during their campaign sorties in the provinces.

"I am surprised even in areas where the population is normally reserved (where people are not) demonstrative, they have really been demonstrating the warmth, the expectancy and hope," he said.

Aquino also urged his supporters not to be complacent, calling on them to "maximize the lead to put the fear of God on those who want to manipulate the May elections."

The latest survey on the presidential race done by TNS (Taylor Nelson Sofres) shows Aquino leading Sen. Manny Villar by 11 percentage points despite the billion-peso ad placements of his closest rival.
