REJECTS DONATION IF SOURCE FUNDS
AQUINO VETTING OFFERS OF CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS

TACLOBAN CITY - In the wake of the United States State Department's warning that drug money may influence the outcome of the May elections, Liberal Party presidential bet Sen. Noynoy Aquino has become even more cautious of offers for campaign contributions.

Aquino told reporters here his camp had always been wary of support from various groups lest they be compromised later on. "We try as much as possible to get everybody to support us, kaya lang (but) we don't want to be compromised down the line," he said.

The 50-year old senator from Tarlac said his camp closely scrutinizes offers from prospective donors, and rejects them if there were doubts about the source of the funds.

"Pag yung lumapit di ma-trace ang legitimacy ng kanyang inaalok natulong, we decide not to accept," Aquino said.

On the other hand, he said he would not offer anything big to potential donors, except the assurance of a level playing field in business.

Aquino said he has early on laid down the ground rules before accepting any donation.

"Sinasabi ko to any prospective donor, the only thing he can expect is a level playing field sa business nila," he said.
