Villar: I will review GMA's midnight appointments

Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar criticized President Arroyo for her spate of "midnight appointments," vowing to review thoroughly all of these acts if he is elected president in May.

Mrs. Arroyo drew flak for her recent frenzy of appointments and surprise dismissals, which were done barely two months before her terms end in June.

One of those recently removed from office was Ambassador to Germany Delia Domingo-Albert, who only learned of her replacement the day she was given the Most Outstanding Filipino Woman in Global Diplomacy award by no less than President Arroyo last week.

In her stead, 87-year-old taipan Alfonso Yuchengco was appointed.

Reports said Arroyo also named Eduardo Peralta Jr. and Ramon Hernando, both professors of the Angeles University Foundation School of Law, as new justices of the Court of Appeals and Larry Henares as chair of the National Museum, replacing businessman Antonio Cojuangco.
