Massive Aquino rally in Gingoog City

Residents of the city that got its name from the Manobo word for "goodluck" were surprised to find leading presidential candidate Benigno S. "Noynoy" Aquino III flashing the Laban sign outside their homes on Wednesday.

Aquino was in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental to preside over the Liberal Party (LP) grand rally at the Lugod gym there.

When the people got wind that Aquino was there, they rushed out of their houses and workplaces to greet the presidential candidate who holds sizable leads in all national presidential surveys. Many brought out yellow blankets and makeshift ribbons, and flashed the Laban sign as a sign of solidarity with the LP's vision to end corruption, the foremost cause of poverty in the country.

According to a number of the residents, they will elect Aquino as the country's next president in the May polls because of his "sincerity" and "trustworthiness." Aquino with 69% and running mate Senator Mar Roxas with 74% were the frontrunners again in the Pulse Asia trust survey for presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

Aquino thanked the people for their overwhelming support, and vowed to bring about a clean and compassionate government that will dedicate the government's resources to services for the poor such as housing, healthcare, and education.
