BE WISE, TRUST YOUR HEART IN CHOOSING MAY 10 BETS - ROXAS

Reject the corrupt and use your heart and mind in choosing the country's next leaders in the May 10 elections.

Liberal Party President and vice-presidential race frontrunner Senator Mar Roxas II urged voters to be more discerning following the results of the latest pre-election surveys conducted by various polling firms and institutions where he and running mate Senator Benigno S. Aquino III appeared as the choice of majority of Filipinos.

The tandem of Aquino and Roxas have consistently topped the surveys conducted separately by the Social Weather Stations, Pulse Asia and Manila Standard Today and other media companies -- with the most recent survey conducted by the Manila Broadcasting Company among 6,000 respondents nationwide giving both Aquino and Roxas two-digit leads over their rivals -- and mock polls in different universities nationwide.

According to Roxas, voters should not be persuaded by empty promises and dubious claims by those aspiring for top government positions in the May 10 elections. Voters should heed the Catholic Church's position that character and integrity of the candidates should be the basis in choosing the next leaders.

Roxas made the statement following allegations that Senator Manuel Villar of the Nacionalista Party has used his position as then Senate President to influence the decision of the Philippine Stock Exchange to twist existing rules in favor of his real estate business.

"Noynoy and I will never cheat just to win in the elections. We will make sure that the people's right to vote will not be put to waste," Roxas stressed.

The LP tandem has vowed to pursue efficient tax collection, more funds for the modernization of education and health care system and good governance to curb graft and corruption in a bid to attract more investors in the country.
