Villar to voters: Think of the poor

Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar reminded voters to consider the plight of millions of poor Filipinos when they cast their votes for president on May 10.

With less than two weeks before the elections, Villar said it is important to know who among the presidential candidates can eradicate the country's massive poverty problem.

He said it was important for the next president to lead the nation to progress and alleviate the living conditions of millions of Filipinos living below the poverty line.

Villar said people remain hopeful that a new leader can bring about an economic turnaround.

"Ang mahalaga po, iyong pagtatapos ng kahirapan," Villar said as he emphasized that he has a comprehensive program to address this concern.

He said his program and platform of government are geared towards putting an end to the country's poverty.

He reiterated that his administration will push for a pay hike for minimum wage earners and work to create more jobs.

"We already have a strategy for that," said Villar who has given jobs to thousands of Filipinos through his housing empire.

Villar also said his administration will also work to augment the earnings of farmers and fishermen.
